How to Delete Team Members from an Account and Keep Their Data: User Conversion

Last year, we introduced a feature that was unique for the whole project management software market.
This is virtual resource conversion that allows you to convert virtual resources into real users.
Now, we introduce the opposite feature – a user conversion into a virtual resource when deleting them from an account.
Let’s figure out why and when you might need it.
Why you might need to convert users into virtual resources
Previously, deleting a user from an account in GanttPRO would result in the immediate loss of data about their tasks and other information related to them. It meant that all those tasks got the unassigned status.
Obviously, it could affect your whole planning process and project in general.
Now, we offer this new conversion opportunity in case you delete someone from your account.
The conversion feature is available only on the Enterprise plan.
To avoid losing all data associated with a deleted user, you’ll be prompted to convert them into a virtual resource.
How the conversion works
When you delete a user, you’ll be offered not only the deletion option, but the conversion option as well.
When you select to convert:
- A virtual resource will be created with the same name as a real user.
- All of the user’s tasks will be reassigned to the new resource. Other data like, for example, estimation will also be saved.
- The deleted user will no longer have access to the account.
