Thanks for the helpful info!
I would have one question regarding projects that should be added to Portfolio. I wanted to also add an existing Jira Project to the portfolio, but when I am opening the list of projects to select, the Jira one doesn't appear as an option, so I cannot add it.
Is there any setting needed? Or is this not yet possible? And if so, is there a timeline to have this in the future?

Thanks

I think a lack of understanding on how to plan has led to an increase in the popularity of using agile frameworks. Planners understand how to run tasks / phases / etc. in parallel to get the best use of resources. Increasing I see Project Managers wanting to use agile as an excuse for not understanding how to plan properly - in my opinion it can be viewed that an agile project is just a series of simple waterfall projects that havent got their dependencies defined or vice versa, a waterfall project is a series of concurrent agile projects with defined dependencies and accountabilities.

Hi!
Thank you for the question. After you choose your file and click on the Import button, you have to assign the fields according to their contents choosing the options from the drop-down menu of each field.
There you have the following options:
- WBS number
- Task name
- Start and End dates and time
- Duration
- Progress
- Task description
- Assignee.

If you don’t need a field or it does not fit into any existing category, leave it within the Not used category.
Once you have configured all the necessary fields, click on the Start Import button.

I am importing a multi field Excel spreadsheet into GanttPro and the import process is quite painful. I've watched the videos and did some searches. But it is still finicky. ALL I want to do it a 1:1 import from my Excel Spreadsheet.

It seems like Gantt Pro has all of these expectations as to how I name and use each column and I have to set up special column names under profile settings. Is there ANYWAY to force import and let me clean up column names inside of Gantt Pro once the data is in there? OR cut and paste a list of items into Gantt from a spreadsheet.

Hi,

Thanks for this interesting list.

However, you miss out the most obvious choice which is to use Atlassian's own "Advanced Roadmaps" which has this functionality. Why not compare it to these? It is free which means CFOs, budget holders or cost centre managers are going to want a pretty good justification for paying for any of these alternatives.

The disadvantage (and possibly the key USP for alternatives) is the usability for team leaders and PMs. Advanced Roadmaps usability is awful. We tried it and after a hard slog, simply gave up because the team leaders rejected it. 1/10 for Atlassian. They really need to get some UI experts in to redo the whole interface.

All the alternatives need to do is provide a decent interface, some decent training videos with real examples and they could beat Atlassian hands down. otherwise, teams will just export to spreadsheet and then export to MPP.

Regards

Hi! Thank you for the question.
At the moment, GanttPRO does not offer resource leveling option. However, GanttPRO is a powerful resource management tool even without that feature. For example, there are robust workload calculation features (find more here https://blog.ganttpro.com/en/updated-resource-workload/). Also, you can quickly, with drag & drop, redistribute tasks. Thank you for the question.
<span style="color: rgb(77, 77, 77);">In any case, it depends on what you exactly need to do in your project and how. However, both Gantt and PERT diagrams can simplify working with projects, increase productivity, and make the workflow more transparent.</span>

Hi
Thanks for your tip on exporting a project into excel.
How do you export all your projects into one spreadsheet, or even all projects into their own spreadsheet on mass?
We have 150-200 projects in our PMOS, and I need to interrogate the data.
Unfortunately if I try and get the data from Olap / Odata, some of the fields aren't available as they are custom fields and aren't in the cube.
I've created a macro to open a project and do a "file save as" into it's xls, however, this is slow and if there's an issue with the project (inactive resource, incorrect task etc), then it hangs until you click <ok>.
Thanks
